Aesop's Fables

The Two Men, The Eagle and The Fox

A man caught an eagle and clipped its wings. Then the eagle was let loose in the poultry farm, along with the chickens. For the eagle it was a blot on self-respect. The eagle was highly depressed and very sad. Another man bought the eagle from the first man. He restored the eagle’s feathers and let it go. The eagle was happy to regain its freedom and was thankful to the second man. The eagle soared high and caught a hare, which it brought for the second man as a thanksgiving gesture. A fox said to the eagle, “This man does not need your attention. Give such gifts to the first man so that the next time he catches you, he does not clip your wings”.
