Acid Base & Salt

Substances which taste sour are called acids, while those which taste bitter are called bases. An acid turns blue litmus into red. A base turns red litmus to blue. When an acid reacts with a base, they form a salt and this reaction is called neutralization. We use different acids in our day to day life; like acetic acid, citric acid, tartaric acid, etc. Vinegar contains acetic acid, lemon juice contains citric acid and tamarind contains tartaric acid. Baking soda and washing soda contain bases and they are also used in our day to day life.
