Chemical & Physical Changes

Changes can be divided into two types, viz. physical changes and chemical changes. A change in which no new substance is formed is called physical change. A change in which a new substance is formed is called chemical change. Most of the physical changes are reversible in nature, while most of the chemical changes are irreversible in nature. A chemical change is also called a chemical reaction. Melting of ice, melting of wax, inflation of balloon, etc. are examples of physical change. Cooking of food, burning of wood, growth of a tree, etc. are examples of chemical change.
