Fibre from Animals

Fibres are the building blocks of fabrics and fabric is utilized to make clothes. Natural fibres are of two kinds; fibres from animals and fibres from plants. Cotton, jute and flex are plant fibres, while silk and wool are animal fibres. Wool is mainly obtained from sheep and silk is obtained from silk moth. Australia is the largest producer of wool in the world. In India, wool is mainly produced in western part of the country. Silk was originally discovered in ancient China. China is the leading producer of silk in the world; followed by India. Varanasi, Bhagalpur, Kanchipuram, etc. are the major silk producing centres in India.
