Control and Coordination

A complex organism has many systems to manage various functions. Presence of different systems for different functions is the ultimate step towards division of labor in an organism. In complex organisms, different organ systems need to work in perfect coordination. This is achieved by neural system and endocrine system in complex animals. The neural system accomplishes nervous control. The endocrine system accomplishes chemical control. While nervous control is fast, chemical control is slow. Nervous control is absent in complex plants, but chemical control is present in them also.
