Life Process

The biological processes which are essential to continue life in a living being are called life processes. Nutrition, respiration, excretion, transport and control & coordination are the different life processes. Digestion is an important part of nutrition and it helps a heterotroph to breakdown complex food into simple substances so that they can be absorbed and assimilated by the body. Respiration is necessary to utilize food to produce energy so that energy can be available to carry out various activities. Excretion is necessary to remove waste substances which can prove harmful if they would accumulate in the body. Transport of substances is necessary to ensure availability of various substances in the body and also to expel excretory products.
